How to be a digital marketer?

In this blog I am going to tell you how you can start your career as a digital marketer. Digitalization is increasing day by day and every other brand are going online and to reach the target audience business needs a digital marketer and also there are many reasons to become an online marketer which I mentioned in my previous blog ‘Why to be a Digital Marketer?’. In starting of our career we are confused what to opt and how should I pursue step by step because most of us don’t have a right guidance to follow up. You want to opt for online marketing as a profession then goes through the below points which are based on my personal experience and use them if you find them logical or right guidance. 

1.  Start

Just give a start to your career, it’s not about marketer career, any career you want to pursue just start it. Explore the field why you choose, the pros and cons of the field, job & salary growth, industry growth. When you start exploring every side of the field you will know is it right for you and not and if it seems right then don’t think too much and go on the ride and start that profession without much ado.

2.  You Tube/Articles

People are looking for an institution who can teach them digital marketing and the various stream which comes under it and there are lots of institutes who are providing courses at different rates. There is a benefit when you learn from institute but they charge a large amount of money for 4 months training and this training will let you know about everything like what you did in your school and college, just theory or fun. Rather than opting for institute I prefer to start learning from YouTube and articles, YouTube is the best one just does some searches on YouTube regarding the field, find 2-3 channels and subscribe to them. You have to invest 4-5 hours daily on YouTube for leaning each and every side of digital marketing and if you have doubts there is no one to solve them, post them on FB groups related to digital marketing and you will see a no. of experts who are ready to help you. But you have to consistent for 1 month to daily watch the courses online.

3.  Internship

While you are doing your YouTube and article thing for learning after 20 days apply for an internship in companies/digital marketing company. Nowadays internship is very easy to get than jobs and good companies will give you perks like course completion certificate, letter of appreciation and also stipend for your work and that stipend will cover your daily needs. But if you join for an internship then at least do it for 6 months regular, try to learn more and more and never say no to senior for work Whether it is of your field or not. Increase your skills and know the tools as much as can. Everything different you learn will help you and makes you one step forward to other digital marketers. You can find internships easily on Internshala, Letsintern, indeed, FB groups etc. 

4.  Job

When you did your internship, now it’s time to find the job and this is the tough task to find the job , IF you are finding job for SEO, you can easily find one but if want to opt for PPC, SMO jobs then it’s a quite difficult to get a job because PPC and SMO are paid and clients can easily find the faults , so most of the company won't give that task to a newbie but don’t lose hop, just start a job which you get first and join the company, as an example if you join a company for SEO profile  but you want to do PPC/SMO, Start doing SEO and if You have skills and talent then after some time the seniors will change the profile to your choice . The most imp thing is to join a company and generate a source of income and once you have the source of income, you can try for different things.

Took 15-20 days to find a job and before joining any company, check the company status and rating on internet.

Some Special Tips

1. Never stop leaning whether you are a newbie or will be a 10 years experienced guy. Learning new things will help you to become better. 

2. Find new tools and start exploring the. As on daily basis some new and old tools which are coming in the market daily. Make a list of the most beneficial tools.

3. Never too bossy and give your work to juniors, always try to work by yourself on daily basis ,it makes you aware for daily changing marketing trends.

4. Do subscribe newsletters to get the marketing updates and become up to date

5. Help others and share your knowledge, it will increase your confidence and knowledge.
